The solution aimed to create a hierarchical wayfinding system using landmark elements that gave a sense of place to the local towns as well as provide consistent unifying urban elements from town to town in the region.
A key strategy was to create strong information landmarks at public arrival and gathering points. These landmarks set a strong visual language that was then echoed in subsequent supporting signage.
The map design was a critical element on the information landmarks designed to attract and engage the new visitor.
The project is the start of an ongoing 5 year program and part of a larger AU$35million dollar infrastructure program.
