Jewels in the crown
Brisbane’s RNA and Lend Lease, are implementing a ten year Master Plan that will see the 22 hectare Brisbane Showgrounds site transformed into a vibrant new mixed-use precinct. The Plan, budgeted at roughly $2.9 billion, will be the largest Brownfield development of its kind in Australia.
The first phase of the Master Plan focuses around the heritage heart of the site and includes the Royal International Convention Centre and arrival plaza. Every year the site hosts the EKKA, Queensland’s state show where the country comes to the city, but it is also host to many other festivals and events throughout the year.
The wayfinding strategy will address the various levels of traffic converging on the site and appeal to a variety of user groups from the seasonal users that flock to the site during the EKKA, to permanent local residents supporting the village amenities.
