Anna Meares Velodrome
The Anna Meares Velodrome is the first indoor velodrome in Queensland. Designed by Cox Architecture, the venue features an international competition standard 250 metre timber cycling track, with it’s facilities catering for a range of cyclists and a number of indoor sports.
Dotdash were engaged to provide wayfinding design services that allowed cyclists and spectators to easily navigate through and enjoy the voluminous velodrome.
Our design approach built on the cycling aesthetic. Using bicycle geometry, velocity and track markings, we have developed a visual language using type and pictograms.
These were simply applied to walls and surfaces like decals on a bicycle.
The outcome is a seamless, integrated design solution that enriches the sense of place and the culture of indoor competitive cycling.
